Ten years ago, Elco thought about what role it could play in reducing the effects of global warming. In 1998, the very first prototype of our ECM motor was presented.
Using its own protected intellectual property, Elco developed the ECM, which is a highly efficient alternative to the traditional shaded pole motors which are currently the standard in commercial refrigeration. The ECM enables higher efficiency than usual shaded pole motors due to the high level of protection against water and dust that is granted by motor’s IP65 solution.
Despite a higher unit price, extensive customer trials have now been completed and these clearly demonstrated a payback period that can be as short as seven months, significant energy savings and a significant impact on customers’ carbon footprints. Based on studies carried out by Elco, the Company believe a typical supermarket group might save an annual 30 tons of CO2 per store.
The motor is the perfect alternative to the traditional shaded pole motors normally used and adopted in all the supermarket cabinets and in most of the commercial refrigeration applications due to a significant flexibility and a very high level of protection.

Shaded Pole Motor
N Series Motors
The shaded pole N series motors are widely used in the industrial and commercial refrigeration industry. Also used In condensing, evaporating and small ventilating units.
These motors are 4 shaded poles, single phase, normally running at 230-240 V, 50-60 Hz, with an output power ranging from 5 to 35 Watt; insulation class B with a standard protection class of IP42.

Elco CFR Series - Compact Axial Fans
CFR Series: compact axial fan & guard assemblies with 5 blade impellers, sucking or blowing, single or three phase, rated output power 60 to 200 watts, 4 & 6 poles, single speed, ball bearings, cast aluminium endshields, thermal overload protection, class B insulation, various IP protected enclosures, terminal box or cable, black paint finish.

Cross Flow Blowers
- Our cross flow blowers provide low velocity and quiet air stream with moderate pressure. The air outlet is rectangular and you can decide the long side from a wide choice of different lengths.
- The impeller can be driven by an ac or dc motor at your choice
- The winding of the ac motor is also available with a tap, so that you can have full or reduced speed operation
- The standard electric insulation is Class F, but you can also have Class H insulation at your request
- Our standard range has 60 mm diameter impeller, but you can also choose your product in the 45 mm impeller range when you look for a room saving blower, or in the 65 mm impeller range when you look for a very quiet operation or else in the 80 mm impeller range when you look for extra quiet operation.
- We suggest horizontal mounting for best operation
- The standard operating temperature range is wide, between –10 and +60 °C. When required, you can also have our products with extended temperature range, up to 120 °C.
- An ample lubricating oil reservoir on sleeve bearings ensures long operating life. Ball bearings can be used at your request for extra long life.
- Tested and proven operation reliability is guaranteed by good expertise and craftsmanship
- Special versions for dusty or wet areas are available on request
- Standard electrical connection to motors is by means of faston spade or tag connectors or by means of suitable cables.
- Our products bear the CE mark and are manufactured according to EN 60335-1 and RoHS requirements
- UL/CSA recognition and/or VDE conformity certification are also available upon request.
- The products listed in this catalogue are intended for operation under supply from an a.c. source with essentially sinusoidal waveform and null d.c. component. Any deviation from this situation. e.g. when significant voltage peaks are present or when the d.c. component is significantly different from zero, may involve damages or loss of operation from the product
